Outline

We aim to develop high performance carbon materials for secondary battery which is essential for utilization of renewable energy. To reduce CO2 emitted in the conventional power generation methods, there are increasing activities for dissemination and enhancement of renewable energy. Meanwhile, for photovoltaic and wind-power generation in which generation performance is largely dependent on weather conditions, electric power accumulator is essential for power storage. Reduction of costs for such secondary batteries will be the key for dissemination.

To reduce costs for secondary batteries, performance enhancement (high output, high capacity) has been found out to be effective, besides adoption of low-cost materials. We have over 40 years of history in development of activated carbon fiber, in which we have developed solvent recovery equipment and carbon materials for large-scale secondary batteries. By enhancing and utilizing those technique and know-how, we aim to develop a carbon material which contributes to performance enhancement of secondary batteries. Through active collaboration work with a battery manufacturer, we will promote dissemination of low-cost secondary batteries as well as renewable energy, to contribute to CO2 reduction.

* COreduction amount are determined by the dissemination of renewable energy by electric manufactures. We cannot quantify CO2 reduction amount because we contribute indirectly to their dissemination.
